23 Oct Development of the COLLISION REGULATION – COLREG practical training course
We hereby present you our new course that we perform at POU Bozic training center. It is the course COLLISION REGULATION – COLREG.
Studies have shown that ship collisions have been identifies as one of the most common types of accidents at sea. Not knowing and not understanding the regulations is considered to be the main reason why navigation rule are ignored and/or disregarded when avoiding a collision.
Hence, POU Bozic has developed this focused training course that facilitates learning and understanding of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea.
To point out, this training course also uses practical excercises with mini vessels in an indoor pool that we built as part of our training center. We offer a large number of mini vessels – tugs – yachts – cargo ship – warship – patrol boat – VLCC tanker – LPG ships. Our goal during the training is to establish the best coordination, a fine control of the vessel and to sense the movement of the ship.
This polygon is unique in Europe!
The exercises are performed by professional and experienced lecturers with many years of maritime experience. The training can be performed during day or night and with different weather conditions, as we also have built lighthouses and wave simulators.
We do not have a time limit for the training, therefore the exercises are performed until the candidates have mastered them, all according to the teaching topics of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea – 1972, amended in 2018.
The duration of the course is 5 days:
- 3 days theoretical
- 2 days practical excercises.
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive certificates.
We can also run courses for smaller groups of candidates at the request of clients.
