Diploma award ceremony for the second generation of students of the first International Maritime Academy in Croatia

Diploma award ceremony for the second generation of students of the first International Maritime Academy in Croatia was held on 4 August 2020, with respect to and following the measures of Covid-19 protection.

„This was an important day for us as we are the First International Maritime Academy in Croatia with English as first language. We are especially proud of our students and their success at the end of the year. We are also very proud of the interest the potential students showed in our programmes, primarily for the international programmes, as they offer education in English. The students are aware how useful this is, as at the same time they acquire English language skills together with their professional skills. This definitely gives them advantage in obtaining employment on the ships. As far as employment is concerned, after successful graduating from the Academy we can guarantee to our candidates jobs primarily on the passenger ships. Therefore, successful completion of the programmes is for mutual satisfaction to both our students and to us“, says the director of SSM Ltd. Ratko Božić, PhD.

“In the second generation of international maritime academy there are 50 students from different parts of Croatia and the world who ennrolled in our programmes for different interests. Most of them lack work experience, so they would like to gain quality education before starting to work aboard. Moreover, there are those with work experience but require retraining in oder to receive promotion on the ship, or retraining is one of the conditions to enter additional programmes of education such as electro- technician of the programme for ETO- Electro- Technical Officer. It is important to point out that our students are eager to work and learn, and with professional help from our highly graded lectureres with broad experience in working on the ships. Students recognize our quality and organisation, value our highly equipped classrooms, simulators and practical work. If students need accommodation during their education we will offer our assistance to make the process easier for them, we offer free lunch during the breaks, transport from their accommodation to the Academy, gym, wokshops for children and adults if they bring their families and so much more.“, says the head of the Academy Ivo Perković, mag.oec.
